New Lawyers "Gap Series": The Art of Writing Like a Lawyer

1.0 credit applied for this program.

Featuring: Chris Soper, Professor of Legal Writing, Assistant Director of Applied Legal Instruction, University of Minnesota Law School

The HCBA New Lawyers Section is proud to present the "Gap Series" of CLE programming. The New Lawyers Section surveyed a cross-section veteran attorneys in the Hennepin County legal community, asking what they routinely see new lawyers lacking in terms of knowledge or skills. Based upon the responses received, the section has designed a series of CLEs intended to fill in the "gaps" identified.

This month's program will focus on the structure of the elements lawyers use to craft written work.  Yes, that means grammar.  But after studying the artistic legal writer's tools, the program will examine artfully drafted legal work product to foster an appreciation of the art of legal writing.
