Get on Board with LINC:
Leaders Impacting the Nonprofit Community!

Nonprofit Leadership Training Designed for Local Lawyers

A seven-session series designed to train today's professionals to be effective nonprofit board members.

19 CLE credits for the full series
(including 2.0 Elimination of Bias and 1.0 Ethics) applied for.

Lawyers are often called upon to serve on nonprofit boards and in other voluntary leadership positions. While lawyers bring strong skills in many areas and the desire to make a difference in these roles, they often lack the background and formal training needed to contribute effectively as nonprofit volunteer leaders.

The Hennepin County Bar Association has developed the LINC (Leaders Impacting the Nonprofit Community) program to provide lawyers with training in nonprofit governance and effective leadership.  The skills you acquire from LINC training will be applicable to positions of leadership on nonprofit boards and committees (such as those for associations, faith communities, and community-based nonprofits), and are transferable to leadership within law firms, corporations, and government agencies.

Make this the year that you join the LINC!  Call 612-752-6600 to register.

HCBA member: $495.  Non-Member: $750

If you’ve considered the LINC program in the past but didn’t sign up, this is the year to give it another look!

After more than a decade of offering the award-winning LINC program, the Hennepin County Bar Association has made a number of changes to the program this year to make it more accessible to more lawyers.

 The 2014 LINC series will:

  • Be significantly less expensive (less than half the cost of previous LINC trainings);
  • Reduce the time commitment required (sessions will be held every other Thursday afternoon, February 13 to May 8, from 2:00-5:00 p.m.);
  • Retain a "cohort” approach (what many LINC graduates believe to be one of the most valuable aspect of the program: developing relationships with other local lawyers they might not otherwise meet);
  • Provide the cohort with a bonus leadership development session, just for them, focused on growing each participant’s personal leadership skills and effectiveness serving on a team of volunteer leaders;
  • Offer individual programs à la carte for those unable to complete the full cohort program in one year or who are simply interested in attending a particular session.

 To receive the designation of "LINC Graduate”, participants must attend at least 15 hours of LINC programming.
